Over $5,000 Raised to Support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)
The sun rose warm and bright in the autumn sky as Team Insight excitedly hurried to finish organizing the final details for the fundraising event that they were hosting that afternoon. For the last month, they had been reaching out to businesses in the community, arranging gift baskets, and creating flyers and email campaigns to bring awareness to, and raise money for the lifesaving organization of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
It was encouraging and inspiring to experience the generosity of local businesses and musicians who joined together to donate their talent, time, merchandise, and finances to help make the fundraising event a success.
The afternoon started off at IBEW 494 Union Hall with an exhilarating group motorcycle ride through winding country roads. Riders enjoyed the crisp fall air and the amber and golden leaves that surrounded them as they rode. For two hours they drove down enchanting scenic roads in honor of everyone whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Riders arrived at Paulie’s Pub & Eatery in West Allis, just as more guests started to stroll in, everyone excited for the afternoon’s events. The silent auction table was filled with homemade baskets and a wide variety of donated merchandise such as a signed Green Bay Packers football, Milwaukee Bucks tickets, and various gift certificates to local spas and restaurants.
Two local, talented bands, LJ & Bill Acoustic (with Roi Evans) and The Killer Clowns, donated their skills and filled the restaurant with mesmerizing and entertaining music. They played covers to popular bands and provided their own original, captivating songs.
The restaurant was filled with fun and laughter, but there was also deep respect and sense of awareness that everyone was gathered to help make a positive difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
Towards the end of the evening, a video was played on the projector screen, sharing a story of Mikayla Simonson, a young woman who had recently been diagnosed with aplastic anemia. Her only hope for a cure is receiving a bone marrow transplant and unfortunately, there are currently no suitable donors in the entire world for her. Because the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society also raises awareness for Be The Match, the largest and most diverse marrow donor registry in the world, Sandra Smith, Founder and President of Insight Talent Solutions, felt compelled to share this young woman’s story in hopes that attendees would be compelled to join the registry.
As the evening started coming to an end, the winners of the auction items and the 10-square raffle were announced. The winners were excited for their new merchandise, and the winner of the 10-square raffle generously donated half of her earnings back to LLS. The event was a success and over $5,000 were raised to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society persevere in their mission of finding a cure for blood cancers. Insight Talent Solutions is in awe over the generosity of the people in our community that joined together to help make this fundraising event for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society a success. We could not have done this without you and sincerely appreciate your thoughtful generosity!
